The Venice Concept Collection is a series of four gouache-led jewellery designs, created following our Head of Design’s time in the city for the 61st Venice Biennale.
Inspired by Venice’s interplay of light, movement, and reflection, the collection explores a more instinctive approach to design. One that sits at the intersection of art, place, and bespoke craftsmanship. Each piece reflects our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful, custom-made jewellery shaped by experience as much as technique.
La Serenissima
A JEWELLERY COLLECTION SHAPED
BY LIGHT AND MOVEMENT
Returning from Venice, there was a desire to hold onto something of the city. Not only its beauty, but its atmosphere, sense of possibility, and its deep connection to art and expression.
"Venice is shaped as much by water and light as by stone, where reflection softens form and movement replaces stillness. There is an ease to it, a slower pace that allows the city to register in fragments rather than all at once. Its atmosphere aligns closely with our design language. A fabric shaped by nature, art, and architecture, carrying a sense of romance, time, and a quiet decadence."

Working in gouache allowed each design to begin as an immediate response, capturing light, movement, and feeling before refinement into jewellery. It is a process that prioritises instinct, allowing form to emerge naturally.
Diamond & Pearl Forms
MODERN DESIGN, HISTORIC MATERIALS
Rare, softly contoured diamonds sit at the centre of each design, selected for the way they catch and diffuse light, paired with drop pearls for their shared, gentle luminosity. Stones are set in varying directions, creating movement within each piece—forms that reveal themselves gradually, designed to be experienced over time. This interplay reflects Venice itself, where past and present exist in quiet dialogue. Historic materials and softened silhouettes are approached with a contemporary hand—unfixed, evolving, and balanced with ease.
From the Venice Biennale to Bespoke Design
Our presence at the Venice Biennale marks a considered step for Naveya & Sloane. Through a first-of-its-kind partnership, we are supporting an early-career New Zealand artist, Te Ara Minhinnick at the Learning From Venice workshop coordinated by The Office of Contemporary Art Aotearoa.
The Venice Concept Collection sits alongside this moment. Not as a traditional product launch, but as a creative exploration to demonstrate how art, travel, and cultural immersion can shape the way we design.
