The 4C's system, designed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), is a universal guideline that supplies a basic understanding of a diamond's quality. 

These grades are categorised by a number of characteristics including colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight, which determines the rarity and value in an easy-to-understand format.
